ABSTRACT
This study investigated the relationship between student support services and goal achievement in private universities in South-West Nigeria using a mixed-methods approach. It focused on key services— admission, accommodation, health, ICT, and library and examined the contributions of stakeholders such as alumni, lecturers, and philanthropic donors. A convergent mixed-methods design was adopted, combining quantitative data from 381 students selected through stratified random sampling and qualitative data from 20 stakeholders interviewed. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, while qualitative data were thematically analyzed. Findings revealed a significant relationship between student support services and goal achievement, especially in enhancing student satisfaction and institutional reputation. Stakeholder contributions were found to strengthen the effectiveness of these services. However, issues such as inadequate funding, limited infrastructure, and policy inconsistencies hindered optimal service delivery. The study concluded that efficient student support services play a vital role in achieving institutional goals. It recommended greater investment in support services, stronger stakeholder collaboration, and the integration of technology-driven approaches to improve effectiveness. These findings provide valuable insights for educational managers and policymakers seeking to enhance institutional performance and student success in private universities.
